Kenana Farm
PERFECT HIGHLAND PARADISE
Kenana farm is a family owned business located on the western wall of the Great Rift Valley, just south of the equator at an altitude of 7,600ft. This idyllic highland equatorial climate creates wonderful growing conditions for wheat, canola and legumes which are all grown in rotation on the farm.
The high altitude means fewer pests and diseases, which had helped the farm to maintain its track record as one of Kenya’s leading breeders of Friesian Dairy Cows, as well as Kenya’s leading Race Horse Stud.
The farm is self sufficient with timber and wood with their own eucalyptus forests, and is constantly engaged in rewilding and habitat management. Since conservation became our standard practice, the diversity of indigenous species of birds, bugs and animals has been constantly on the rise.
To help counter unemployment in the district the farm also provides a home for the highly successful Kenana Knitters women’s group who have a retail outlet well worth visiting.
Guests of Kembu Cottages and Campsite are welcome to enjoy walks along the many trails on the farm.
