Kembu East Africa Ltd

Reservations and Payments:

  • Receipt of deposit and / or final payment is acknowledgment that registrant has read and accepts all Kembu (EA) Ltd Terms and Conditions.
  • When you make a reservation / availability enquiry the office can hold a provisional booking for 24 hours without payment. After 24 hours the booking is automatically cancelled, and you must re-contact us to make that booking.
  • No discounts are given on site at Kembu. Discounts are only available on invoice for advance payments.
  • Payment methods and details are issued with each invoice generated.


Booking Policy:

  • Any advance bookings made more than 45 days before date of arrival must make a 30% non-refundable deposit on all accommodation & food to secure that booking.
  • Remainder of invoice for booking must have been paid AND cleared through Kembu accounts 30 days prior to client arrival.
  • Any booking made 30 days or less before date of arrival must be paid in full to secure that booking.
  • Any changes to booking details less than 30 days prior to client arrival will incur a 10% surcharge.
  • Minimum 2 night bookings over Christmas, New Year, Easter, Public Holiday weekends and Event Weekends.


Cancellation Policy:

  • In the event of a cancellation, the 30% deposit made to secure the booking is NON REFUNDABLE
  • If 100% payment has been made for a booking, then any cancellation 30+ days prior to clients stay date, would be able to claim a credit of 60% of total payment. Kembu (EA) Ltd will issue a credit to the Client/Agent on their next booking at Kembu Cottages. (The credit will be valid for 6 months). NO refunds will be issued in cash or by transfer or
  • There is no refund or credit on any booking cancelled less than 30 days prior to clients arrival date. Clients should ensure their travel insurance covers this eventuality.

Due to the nature of our business, the limited cottages available, we do not give refunds of deposits. We suggest that you obtain travel insurance. The reason for our inability to refund deposits/payments is that we may have turned down clients while holding your deposit and space for you and it is next to impossible to fill a vacated space close to the dates of your stay. In no event will Kembu (EA) Ltd, its owners or managers shall be responsible for any cancellation of the services due to inclement weather, any event of force majeure or any other reason beyond the control of Kembu (EA) Ltd its owners or management.

By making a reservation with Kembu (EA) Ltd. in any manner, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

Separate terms and conditions may apply to your reservation and purchase of travel-related goods and services that you select. Please read these separate terms and conditions carefully. You agree to abide by the terms and conditions of purchase imposed by any supplier with whom you elect to deal, including, but not limited to, payment of all amounts when due and compliance with the supplier’s rules and restrictions regarding availability and use of fares, products, or services. You acknowledge that some third-party providers offering certain services and/or activities may require you to sign their liability waiver prior to participating in the service and/or activity they offer. You understand that any violation of any such supplier’s rules and restrictions may result in cancellation of your reservation(s), in your being denied access to the applicable travel product or services, in your forfeiting any monies paid for such reservation(s), and/or in our invoicing you for any costs we incur as a result of such violation.

All payments can be sent to us by wire-transfer; bank information of which will be sent to you via email.


Travel Insurance

Because deposits and final payments for trip packages are non-refundable, it is highly recommended that you purchase trip insurance in the event that you have to cancel, postpone or reschedule your trip for any reason. We strongly urge you to purchase trip cancellation insurance.

All baggage and personal belongings are of the sole responsibility of its owners at all times. We highly recommend obtaining a comprehensible travel insurance covering loss and robbery of baggage and personal belongings. In no event is our Kembu (EA) Ltd responsible for any losses or damages.

Kembu (EA) Ltd. cannot be held responsible for any delays caused by hazards beyond of our control. This includes airline, baggage delays, delays caused by bad traffic, floods, rain or any other natural hazards.

Neither Kembu (EA) Ltd nor Kenana Farm Ltd nor Kenana Knitters Ltd will be responsible for any loss, damage or injury arising while staying at Kembu, nor from other activity.

Kembu (EA) Ltd. will not be responsible for any loss, damage or injury suffered aboard vehicle or a charter vehicle. The contract issued by them will constitute the sole contract between the vehicle owner / company and the passenger.

When making a reservation with Kembu (EA) Ltd, you understand that the liability of the owners and managers of Kembu East Africa Ltd, Kenana Farm Ltd and Kenana Knitters Ltd and of their employee’s, agents and independent contractors for loss of or damage to property is limited by the Hotels and Restaurants Act {cap.494, laws of Kenya}. Also that none of those persons accept any liability at all for any damage to property or any personal injury {fatal or otherwise} howsoever caused or suffered by any guest or visitor, in consequence of any default, neglect and / or willful acts of such guest or visitor, either within any of the accommodation or while engaged on any excursion or activity in the surrounding land, water and / or air. You visit us on the condition you agree to indemnify those persons against any claim that may be made by or on behalf of, any member of your party or persons invited. You are also clearly made to understand that all animals can be dangerous to humans. The management provide lockers in the bar area but guests use these at their own risk.


Governing Law. Jurisdiction

These terms and conditions shall be subject to the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any disputes arising from or in relation to the contest shall be subject exclusively to the jurisdiction of the Republic of Kenya.
